Es una investigación estadística descriptiva observacional e indirecta, se dividió en 2 partes, la comparación bibliográfica que comparó estudios relacionados sobre la hepatotoxicidad del Acetaminofén y el análisis de una encuesta para medir el grado de automedicación de la población comprendida entre 50 a 60 años de Guayaquil. La comparación bibliográfica resultó en la hepatotoxicidad del Acetaminofén guarda una estrecha relación directamente proporcional con la dosis descontrolada. Para la encuesta se tomó como población a 70 participantes que cumplían con los criterios de inclusión. En la muestra se encontró que el 54% eran mujeres, la mayoría (27% tenía entre 53 y 54 años, el 43% manifestaba presentar dolor casi siempre, el 71% consideraba que no era necesario la visita al médico por dolor o fiebre, confirmando esto con el 53% que indicó que nunca visita al médico en estos casos porque saben que administrarse, el 83% afirmó haberse administrado Paracetamol en estos casos, mientras que el 34% indicaba administrarse 500 mg de este medicamento, el 29% indicó tomar el medicamento hasta que sienta mejoría. Se cumplieron con los objetivos del estudio recalcando que existe un comportamiento indebido de la población sobre la automedicación del Acetaminofén.This study aims to analyze the hepatotoxic effect of people who recur to self-medication in the excessive use of Acetaminophen. It is an observational and indirect descriptive statistical investigation, it was divided into 2 parts, the bibliographic comparison that compared related studies on the hepatotoxicity of Acetaminophen and the analysis of a survey to measure the degree of self- medication of the population between 50 and 60 years of Guayaquil. The literature comparison resulted in the hepatotoxicity of Acetaminophen being closely related directly to the uncontrolled dose. For the survey, 70 participants who met the inclusion criteria were taken as the population. In the sample, it was found that 54% were women, the majority (27% were between 53 and 54 years old, 43% reported having pain almost always, 71% considered that a visit to the doctor was not necessary due to pain or fever, confirming this with 53% that they indicate that they never visited the doctor in cases because they know what to administer, 83% indicated that they administered Paracetamol in these cases, while 34% indicated that they administered 500 mg of this drug, 29% indicated that they took the medication until you feel improvement The objectives of the study were met by emphasizing that there is undue behavior in the population regarding self-medication of Acetaminophen.Universidad de Guayaquil.
