El uso de herramientas o sistemas de información geográfica ayudan a disminuir estos riesgos, porque proporcionan información geo-referenciada de su negocio, es decir la ubicación de sus posibles clientes y además determinan la cobertura geográfica del negocio. Para la aplicación de esta herramienta utilizaremos la información generada por el INEC (Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Censos), donde la analizaremos mediante la herramienta de información, lo que va a permitir tomar decisiones en el menor tiempo posible. Por otro lado, existen en el mercado aplicaciones comerciales proporcionadas por empresas que realizan estos análisis, sin embargo presentan un problema por su elevado costo; es debido a esto que el presente tema de investigación propone implementar un prototipo de herramienta de información geográfica utilizando software libre, disminuyendo los costos para las empresas en su implementación. De las aplicaciones OpenSource utilizaremos PostgreSQL y PostGIS para almacenar la base de datos geográfica con información del censo 2010, GeoServer como servidor de mapas, Tomcat que será nuestro servidor web, OpenLayers para visualizar mapas en exploradores web y como lenguaje de programación base utilizaremos Java. Finalmente, para analizar las necesidades y situaciones en las que se encuentran las PYMES se empleó la metodología de cuestionarios. El resultado final de la investigación es una herramienta de fácil uso en un ambiente web amigable.Nowadays, a lot of businessmen want to implement new PYMEs (small and medium enterprises) in the city of Guayaquil, but they hope to reduce their risks, at the moment of choosing the best place to establish it. The use of tools or geographical information systems, helps to reduce these risks, because it provides geo-referenced information of your business, the location of your possible clients and also determines the geographical reach of the company. For the implementation of this tool, we will use the information generated from the INEC (National institute of statistics and censuses), where we will take advantage using this instrument of information, which will allow us to take decisions in the least possible time. On the other hand, in the market exists commercial applications provided by companies that perform these analyses, although they show a problem due to its high cost; is because of this that the current topic of investigation proposes to implement an geographical information prototype tool using free software, reducing the costs for companies during its implementation. From the OpenSource applications, we will utilize PostgreSQL and PostGIS to store the geographical database with information from the 2010 census; Geoserver as a map server, Tomcat which will be our web server, OpenLayers to visualize maps in web explorers, and as a base programming language we will use Java. Finally, to analyze the needs and situations in which PYMEs are found, the questionnaire methodology was employed.
