Cualquier alteración en la apariencia estética puede provocar implicaciones psicológicas que pueden ir desde una simple forma de esconder el defecto hasta la más grande introversión. El objetivo del presente caso clínico es devolver el funcionamiento del sistema masticatorio y a la vez la estética en el sector anterosuperior mediante la prostodoncia fija metal cerámica .Métodos y materiales se realizó en un paciente de sexo masculino de 51 años de edad con edentulismo parcial en el maxilar superior mediante las prótesis fijas metal cerámicas debido a la excelente estética y biocompatibilidad y su evolución de las propiedades mecánicas metal cerámica donde estudios han comprobado y demostraron la durabilidad de este tipo de tratamiento , dentro de las ventajas existen dos principales : en primer lugar es más resistente a la fractura coronaria y si es metal porcelana es más fuerte que la cerámica pura , la segunda razón constituye el único medio seguro de fabricar una prótesis parcial fija estética cuando se precisa un recubrimiento completo sobre uno o dos retenedores .Los resultados obtenidos fueron satisfactorios para el paciente ya que se logró rehabilitar adecuadamente las piezas dentales involucradas desde un punto de vista estético y funcional ( fonética y masticatoria ). Concluimos que en la odontología actual en donde la estética tiene como prioridad en lo tratamientos dentales y a la vez debe de estar capacitado para poder saber elegir los materiales técnicos más adecuados para sus tratamientos sin descuidar los aspectos funcionales de la cavidad oralIn Dentistry, aesthetics represents a constant concern, both on the part of the patient and the dentist. Any alteration in the aesthetic appearance can cause psychological implications that can range from a simple way of hiding the defect to the greatest introversion. The objective of this clinical case is to return the masticatory system function and aesthetics in the upper anterior sector by means of fixed ceramic metal prosthesis. The participant of this study is a 51 years old male patient with partical endentulous in the upper jaw. In this research a fixed ceramic metal prosthesis is employed due to the excellent aesthetics properties, biocompatibility and the evolution of the mechanical properties of metal ceramics where studies have demonstrated the durability of this type of treatment. Within the advantages there are two main ones: first, metal is more resistant to coronary fracture and if it is porcelain metal, it is stronger than pure ceramics, the second reason is the only safe means of manufacturing a fixed aesthetic partial prosthesis when a complete coating on one or two retainers is required. The results were satisfactory on the patient since the tooth involved was rehabilitated; thus the enhancing the aesthetic and functional part (phonetics and masticatory). In all, in current dentistry, aesthetics is the priority in dental treatments; likewise, the dentist must be trained to know how to choose the most appropriate technical materials for treatments without neglecting the functional aspects of the oral cavityUniversidad de Guayaquil.
