El objetivo principal es devolver la estética, forma y así como la funcionalidad normal de la cavidad bucal del paciente, con el fin de mejorar la oclusión y las funciones masticatorias para producir buenos resultados y tenga una mejor calidad de vida.En este trabajo se aborda un problema de mucha importancia que se presenta en los pacientes como la pérdida de una o más piezas dentarias de los pacientes que puede ser por causa patológicas y traumáticas, otros factores serían los problemas periodontales, caries dental o problemas sistémicos. Cuándo el paciente ya ha perdido sus piezas dentarias va causar deformaciones, reabsorciones óseas de los rebordes alveolares como seria la altura y la anchura de los maxilares la pérdida de la dimensión vertical y la altura facial como consecuencia las alteraciones de la articulación temporo mandibular. La ausencia de una o más piezas dentarias causaría una pérdida en la funcionalidad de mecanismo estomatomàgtico. La prótesis dental comprende un extenso campo en el proceso de rehabilitación oral que tiene como fin reponer los dientes ausentes con diversos tipos de ortopedias en pacientes edéntulos totales parciales. Debemos estudiar cada paciente de manera individual y realizar una apropiada planificación protésica y sus problemas determinados. Lo primero sería conocer las zonas desdentadas el tipo de reborde alveolar para valorar la calidad y cantidad de hueso alveolar donde va estar ubicada la prótesis dental y además la estabilidad de la prótesis para dar una armonía oclusal, la realización de una prótesis dependerá de una buena organización y ejecución de cada una de las fases que se soliciten para su confección.The prosthetic rehabilitation of a 57-year-old male patient is performed, with absence of important teeth in the present study. The main objective is to return the aesthetics, shape and as well as the normal functionality of the patient's oral cavity, in order to improve occlusion and masticatory functions to produce good results and have a better quality of life. A very important problem that occurs in patients such as the loss of one or more patients' teeth that may be due to pathological and traumatic causes, other factors would be periodontal problems, dental caries or systemic problems. When the patient has already lost his dental pieces will cause deformations, bone resorptions of the alveolar ridges as would be the height and width of the jaws loss of vertical dimension and facial height as a consequence of alterations of the temporomandibular joint. The absence of one or more dental pieces would cause a loss of stomatomatologic mechanism functionality. The dental prosthesis comprises an extensive field in the process of oral rehabilitation that aims to replace missing teeth with various types of orthopedias in partial total edentulous patients. We must study each patient individually and perform an appropriate prosthetic planning and their specific problems.
