The difficulties shown by these students demonstrated that acquiring a new lexicon turned repetitive and mechanical but exciting for them, making the strategy change a necessity to develop this skill. The research project mentioned was carried out through instruments such as interviews with the teachers and surveys with the students, as well as a field, bibliographic and statistical research to collect all the information needed. These quantitative and qualitative instruments settled the students' level concerning retaining new knowledge as a lexicon. The variables of the problem established were analyzed strictly, evidencing the requirements needed for the students and developing a structured formulation of the historical background.Buscando mejorar la adquisición de vocabulario en el aprendizaje del inglés como lengua extranjera, el objetivo de este proyecto de investigación es utilizar el juego Pictionary como estrategia para la adquisición de nuevo vocabulario, convirtiendo el proceso de aprendizaje en algo ameno para los alumnos de octavo grado de la Escuela de Educación Básica particular Juan XXIII en el año escolar 2022 - 2023. Las dificultades mostradas por estos estudiantes demostraron que la adquisición de un nuevo léxico se volvió repetitiva y mecánica pero emocionante para ellos, haciendo del cambio de estrategia una necesidad para desarrollar esta habilidad. El proyecto de investigación mencionado se realizó a través de instrumentos como entrevistas a los profesores y encuestas a los alumnos, así como una investigación de campo, bibliográfica y estadística para recoger toda la información necesaria. Estos instrumentos cuantitativos y cualitativos establecieron el nivel de los estudiantes en cuanto a la retención de nuevos conocimientos como léxico. Se analizaron estrictamente las variables del problema establecido, evidenciando los requerimientos necesarios para los alumnos y desarrollando una formulación estructurada de los antecedentes históricos.Universidad de Guayaquil.
