Los análisis se realizaron por duplicado mediante extracto hidroalcohólico, donde se pudo demostrar la presencia de metabolitos secundarios como azúcares reductores, alcaloides, flavonoides, compuestos fenólicos y taninos. Las hojas son el órgano que presenta una mayor concentración de compuestos polifenólicos totales 7873,48 mg GAE/1000 g en comparación con la raíz 5155,98 mg GAE/1000 g. En cuanto a la actividad antioxidante, se demostró concentraciones en hojas de 2,58 mg/mL IC50 mientras que en la raíz de 2,72 mg/mL IC50. Al analizar los resultados la especie vegetal tiene abundante poder inhibitorio de radicales libres tanto en hojas como en raíz, esto se ve reflejado en la concentración de polifenoles totales.The purpose of the present work was to establish the content of secondary metabolites, through phytochemical screening, the concentration of total polyphenols using the Folin-Ciocalteu method and the antioxidant activity using the DPPH method, present in the plant sample Symphytum officinale. The analyzes were carried out in duplicate using a hydroalcoholic extract, demonstrating the presence of secondary metabolites such as reducing sugars, alkaloids, flavonoids, phenolic compounds and tannins. The leaves are the organ that presents a higher concentration of total polyphenolic compounds 7873.48 mg GAE/1000 g compared to the root 5155.98 mg GAE/1000 g. Regarding the antioxidant activity, concentrations in leaves of 2.58 mg/mL IC50 were demonstrated while in the root of 2.72 mg/mL IC50. When analyzing the results, the plant species has abundant inhibitory power of free radicals in both leaves and roots, this is reflected in the concentration of total polyphenols.Universidad de Guayaquil.
