Students have some difficulties because they do not have enough opportunities to develop their reading comprehension in the learning process. This project was carried out through a field research, bibliographical investigation and statistical analysis. The bibliographic research was based on different activities about how to develop better reading skills through visual vocabulary with the intention of improving the reading comprehension in the English language. Also, the instruments of the investigation applied during the study were: the teacher’s interview and a survey with a population of 31 students. The results obtained after the analysis showed that students do not have enough instruments to improve their reading skills, and at the same time, the teacher does not have the academic resources to help the students in developing the reading comprehension. For this reason, it is necessary to design a booklet with different visual vocabulary activities to facilitate the reading comprehension of the students during the English class.Esta investigación estudio un problema que fue encontrado en los estudiantes de décimo grado de Educación General Básica, salón “C”, de la Unidad Educativa “Nueve de Octubre”, a causa de los pocos materiales para la enseñanza del idioma inglés, los estudiantes no tienen suficientes oportunidades para desarrollar la comprensión lectora del idioma inglés. Este proyecto se llevó a cabo con un estudio de campo, una investigación bibliográfica y análisis estadístico. La investigación bibliográfica fue basada en diferentes actividades sobre cómo desarrollar una mejor habilidad lectora a través de vocabulario visual con el fin de mejorar la comprensión lectora en inglés en los estudiantes. Además, los instrumentos de investigación aplicados durante la investigación fueron las encuestas a los estudiantes y entrevistas al docente, con una población de 31 estudiantes. Los resultados obtenidos después del análisis demostraron que los estudiantes carecían de suficiente instrumentos para mejorar la habilidad de lectura, a su vez el docente no poseía suficiente recursos relacionados que pudieran ayudar a los estudiantes a desarrollar la compresión lectora. Por esta razón, fue necesario diseñar un folleto con lecturas relacionadas con imagines para facilitar una mejor comprensión durante la clase de inglésUniversidad de Guayaquil.
