El presente trabajo pretende determinar la eficacia del abordaje quirúrgico del torus palatino a través de la técnica en Y (Dorrance), con el objetivo de permitir que los futuros odontólogos conozcan por qué se va a realizar este tipo de tratamiento y cuando se lo debe de hacer, realizándose a través del empleo de métodos de investigación como analítico – sintético e inductivo – deductivo, de esta manera se levantando información de la investigación con la técnica de la observación clínica en donde se realizó un caso clínico de torus palatino de tipo unilobulado, de gran tamaños, y ulcerado, causando muchas molestias al paciente, por lo que se toma la decisión de realizar la excéresis del mismo y otorgar la salud bucal que el paciente lo necesita, devolviendo así la fisiología del paladar y sobre todo la fonación y deglución correcta del paciente logrando demostrar la eficacia del abordaje quirúrgico a través de la técnica en Y Dorrance, y de esta manera devolver al paciente su funcionalidad y bienestar bucal.Palatine torus are benign neoplasms, which will develop from the growth of the palatine apophysis which will spread through the palatine fissure, being slow growing and asymptomatic. The study seeks to determine the effectiveness of the surgical approach of palatine torus through the Y (Dorrance) technique in with the aim of allowing future dentists to know why this type of treatment is going to be performed and when it is necessary to do it. The methodological design corresponds to an analytical synthetic and inductive – deductive study. A palatine torus clinical case of unilobed type was administered, of big sizes, and ulcerated causing many discomfort to the patient, so the decision is made to perform the excising it and granting the oral health that the patient needs. Thus returning the physiology of the palate and above all the correct phonation and swallowing of the patient. In all, the study demonstrated the effectiveness of surgical approach through the Technique in Y Dorrance, and thus returned the functionality and oral well-being of the patient.Universidad de Guayaquil.
