While the situation in public school students is that the role of listening has been ignored for a quite long time, many teachers simply explain the difficult and key words to students, play the recording and check the exercise answer. That passive listening teaching model seriously dampens students’ interests and reduces the effectiveness of teaching. Using pop songs not only creates a relaxed atmosphere, but also provides enough input to students. The aim of the research work is to analyze the characteristics of listening comprehension; the problems existing in listening teaching in students of Ninth Grade at Escuela Fiscal Básica Superior Héroes del Cenepa N°10, the musical intelligence, and the strategies for using English pop songs in the listening classrooms.No se puede negar que la habilidad auditiva en la enseñanza del inglés juega un papel vital para los estudiantes de secundaria, porque consideran que, esta es importante y difícil. Si bien la situación en los estudiantes de escuelas públicas es que el papel de la habilidad auditiva en Ingles ha sido ignorada durante mucho tiempo, muchos maestros simplemente explican las palabras difíciles y claves a los estudiantes, reproducen la grabación y verifican la respuesta del ejercicio. Ese modelo de enseñanza de escucha pasiva frena seriamente los intereses de los estudiantes y reduce la efectividad de la enseñanza. El uso de canciones pop no solo crea un ambiente relajado, sino que también proporciona suficiente información para los estudiantes.
