The research was aimed at determining the influence of the mother language on the development of the oral production of the foreign language. This research considers that the bases that students have in their mother language will help the development of their oral ability in the foreign language. The authors of this work identified the problem by applying research instruments, which were tabulated, analyzed, and interpreted. The creation of study groups about the IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet) was given as a proposal, to improve the pronunciation of English in students and turn help improve oral production in their mother tongue.Esta investigación tuvo lugar en la Unidad Educativa Luis Bonini Pino de la ciudad de Guayaquil y está relacionada con el bajo nivel de producción oral que tienen los estudiantes de octavo año. La investigación fue orientada a determinar la influencia que tiene la lengua materna en el desarrollo de la producción oral de la lengua extranjera. Esta investigación considera que las bases que tengan los estudiantes en su lengua materna ayudarán al desarrollo de su habilidad oral en la lengua extranjera. Los autores de este trabajo identificaron el problema aplicando instrumentos de investigación, los cuales fueron tabulados, analizados e interpretados. Se dio como propuesta la creación de grupos de estudio acerca del IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet), para mejorar la pronunciación del inglés en los estudiantes y a su vez ayudar a mejorar la producción oral en su lengua materna.Universidad de Guayaquil.
