El estudio se llevó a cabo bajo el enfoque cualitativo y diseño fenomenológico. La muestra la conformaron 10 familias guayaquileñas pertenecientes al Grupo Scout No 11. Se emplearon instrumentos como: entrevista en profundidad, composición escrita y grupo focal. Los resultados reflejaron que las representaciones sociales sobre el escultismo de las familias estudiadas son estructuradas entorno a un campo representacional donde coexiste la idea del escultismo como Movimiento Juvenil educativo no formal, dinamizadas por elementos diferenciadores en cuanto a información y actitudes, y similitudes en cuanto a funciones de dominio de sentido común y comunicación, en ambas fuentes. Estas representaciones se han estructurado a partir de la información focalizada y presión a la inferencia como condiciones de emergenciaThe main objective of this research was to explore the social representations of Scouting in Guayaquil families who choose this alternative of non-formal education. The study was carried out under the qualitative approach and phenomenological design. The sample was made up of 10 Guayaquil families belonging to Scout Group No. 11. Instruments such as: in-depth interview, written composition and focus group were used. The results reflected that the social representations about Scouting of the studied families are structured around a representational field where the idea of Scouting as a non-formal educational Youth Movement coexists, energized by differentiating elements in terms of information and attitudes, and similarities in terms of common sense domain functions and communication, in both sources.
