Se aplicó la metodología descriptiva, cuantitativa, de campo, con uso de la encuesta dirigida a niños y padres de familia, cuyos resultados evidenciaron que, la población mayoritaria de niños experimentó preocupación, timidez y llanto con algo de temor, mostrándose asustados antes de la intervención, cuando sintieron los estímulos invasivos durante el tratamiento, tacto, gusto, olfato y audición; el mecanismo que prevaleció en la mayoría de las atenciones a los niños, fue el de decir, mostrar y hacer, para lograr el alivio de la ansiedad. En conclusión, el método de control de la ansiedad que fue utilizado por los estudiantes de 9no semestre durante el tratamiento bucodental en niños de 4 a 8 años fue el método decir – mostrar – hacer, el que fue efectivo para minimizar los altos niveles de ansiedad que experimentaron los infantes a su llegada al establecimiento, solo en la tercera parte de los niños que llegaron asustados al Consultorio Odontológico.This research addresses the problem of anxiety experienced by infants who attend the dental practice. The objective of this study is to determine anxiety control methods used by 9th semester students during oral dental treatment in children aged 4 to 8 years who attended in the dentistry faculty of the University of Guayaquil during the 2019-2020 academic period. This research corresponds to a descriptive, quantitative and field study. Furthermore, a survey was administered to kids and parents, whose results showed that the majority of children experienced anxiety, fear and fear prior the intervention, particularly when they felt the invasive stimuli such as touch, taste, smell and hearing; The anxiety-control mechanism that prevailed in the majority of attention to children was “to say, show and do.” In conclusion, the method of anxiety control that was used by 9th semester students during oral dental treatment in children aged 4 to 8 years, was the method “say - show - do,” which was effective to minimize high levels of anxiety experienced by infants upon arrival at the establishment, only in one third of the children who arrived frightened at the dental officeUniversidad de Guayaquil.
