La metodología de este trabajo es de enfoque cualitativa, con un diseño de investigación-acción de experiencias centradas en el aporte de información con un alcance descriptivo, que orientó la toma de decisiones para explicar la disfuncionalidad familiar de estudiantes de 6 a 12 años con bajo rendimiento académico; se pudo identificar algunas características de afectación en el desarrollo de estos estudiantes que viven en la comunidad contrastando con las entrevistas, guías de observación, cuestionarios, test de la familia, evaluación neuropsicológica NEUROPSI, cuestionario de funcionamiento familiar FF-SIL, los cuales sirvieron para identificar el estilo de crianza, bajos procesos de atención y memoria, modelos inadecuados de convivencia, familias disfuncionales, escasa manifestación de afecto de padres a hijos, bajo nivel cultural de los progenitores, indicadores de agresión, violencia y falta de practica en valores en el espacio familiar, esto ayudó a comprender la realidad contextual del entorno donde habitan estos estudiantes, dando señales que la familia disfuncional es un factor determinante en el desarrollo del niño en las áreas socio afectiva y escolar, ya que incide directamente a través de los modelos de comportamiento y actitudes negativas que presenta en el entorno familiar, social y que puede generar rasgos de personalidad desequilibradosThe purpose of this thesis was to present, in a descriptive way, the experience lived during the months of community service practice of the ninth semester in the line of educational psychology research carried out through the "positive childhood" project in the Guasmo sector of the city of Guayaquil.
