El estudio se efectuó desde una perspectiva general de investigación socio-crítica y un tipo de investigación acción. Se trabajó con un grupo de 15 madres de familia y sus respectivos hijos adolescentes consumidores de sustancias psicoactivas. En la investigación se aplicaron instrumentos de recolección de datos tales como la escala de comunicación entre padres e hijos adolescentes PACS (por sus siglas en ingles), la entrevista semiestructurada, el análisis documental de las fichas del de los adolescentes que reposan en archivo de departamento de psicología, y la observación participante. Los resultados de la investigación mostraron deficiencias en la comunicación entre madres e hijos, así como la necesidad del diseño de un programa de escuela para padres con base en la teoría sistémica, el mismo que fue corroborado satisfactoriamente por expertos, quienes estuvieron totalmente de acuerdo en cuanto a su relevancia temática, fundamentación teórica, estructura programática, concordancia temática y metodológica, pertinencia del programa respecto de los objetivos y aplicabilidadThe main objective of the present research is to design a school program for parents to improve communication between mothers of families and their adolescent psychoactive substance abusers who attend the second year of the "Tránsito Amaguaña" Fiscal Education Unit. The study was conducted from an overview of socio-critical research and a type of action research. We worked with a group of 15 mothers and their respective teenage children using psychoactive substances. In the research, data collection instruments such as the PACS (parents 'and adolescents') communication scale, the semi-structured interview, the documentary analysis of the records of the adolescents who were in the department archive of psychology, and participant observation.
