Dicha patología, según varios autores contribuye al aumento de placa bacteriana en boca, ya que las piezas mal posicionadas dificultan su correcto aseo y por ende aumenta el riesgo de desarrollar caries y enfermedades periodontales. Varios autores asocian también a los problemas de oclusión con el estilo y calidad de vida de los niños, y según varias fuentes donde se realizaron diversos estudios en niños a nivel mundial determinaron que, más de la mitad de la población presentan maloclusión de algún tipo de clase I, II, o III de Angle. Objetivo: Determinar las alteraciones que produce la maloclusión en la salud oral de niños de 6 a 12 años. Metodología: Investigación de tipo documental, cualitativo y retrospectivo. Conclusión: Las maloclusiones como tal tienen diferentes factores etiológicos que pueden ser de origen genético, es decir, que la persona ya nace con una maloclusión determinada y en este caso es más difícil de corregir esta patología, ya que muchas veces requieren de intervención quirúrgica. También se origina por factores externos como hábitos o calidad de vida, los mismos que pueden ser interceptados y corregidos a tiempo. Recomendación: Instruir o dar charlas a los padres de los niños sobre esta temática de mucha importancia, ya que la maloclusión es un problema muy serio, que, al no tratarse o corregirse a tiempoDental malocclusion is defined as the incorrect alignment of the teeth, it is a pathology that occupies the third place among the most frequent diseases of the oral cavity, right after cavities and periodontal disease, thus affecting the oral health of girls and boys of school age. Several authors also associate occlusion problems with the style and quality of life of children, and according to several sources where various studies were carried out on children worldwide, they determined that more than half of the population present malocclusion of some type of Angle class I, II, or III. Objective: To determine the alterations produced by malocclusion in the oral health of children from 6 to 12 years of age. Methodology: Documentary, qualitative and retrospective research. Conclusion: Malocclusions as such have different etiological factors that may be of genetic origin, that is, that the person is already born with a certain malocclusion and in this case it is more difficult to correct this pathology, since many times they require surgical intervention. It is also caused by external factors such as habits or quality of life, the same ones that can be intercepted and corrected in time.
