Es muy importante identificar los signos de alarma en la boca de los pacientes y de existir algún problema, acudir al especialista pertinente, donde se indicará el diagnóstico y tratamiento de lo que podría presentar el paciente. Objetivo: Describir los tipos de diagnósticos y planes de tratamiento para la corrección de la mordida profunda en niños y adolescentes. Metodología: Se realizó una revisión y recopilación de artículos, libros, repositorios, informes, científicos, para poder analizar los escritos y artículos completos teniendo en cuenta todos los puntos referentes del tema a investigar. La búsqueda se realizó en las siguientes bases de datos, Pubmed, Scielo, Google académico, Redalyc, Lilac, repositorios de diferentes universidades, utilizando las palabras claves de interés de la investigación y derivados de diagnóstico y tratamiento ortodóntico preventivo de la mordida profunda encontrando material en idiomas inglés, portugués y español. Conclusiones: La maloclusión clase II así como otros tipos de maloclusiones, es una afección multifactorial que se puede originar mediante factores genéticos, ambientales y conductuales o combinaciones de estos factores. Cuando ya existe el desequilibrio que propicie el avance de la sobremordida, la clave para su tratamiento es detectarla a tiempo para poder interrumpir el desarrollo de esta maloclusión previniendola mediante tratamiento apropiado.ABSTRACT: Deep bite is a common type of malocclusion that occurs when the upper anterior teeth excessively overlap the vestibular face of the lower anterior incisors and one of the most difficult to correct, even requiring complex and painful surgeries. It is very important to identify the alarm signs in the mouth of infants and adolescents and if there is a problem, go to the relevant specialist, where the diagnosis and treatment of what the patient could present will be indicated. Objective: Describe the types of diagnoses and treatment plans for the prevention of deep bite in children and adolescents. Methodology: A review and compilation of articles, books, repositories, reports, scientists was carried out, in order to analyze the writings and complete articles taking into account all the points related to the topic to be investigated. The search was carried out in the following databases, Pubmed, Scielo, Google academic, Redalyc, Lilac, repositories of different universities, using the keywords of interest in the research and derivatives of diagnosis and preventive orthodontic treatment of deep bite, finding material in English, Portuguese and Spanish languages. Conclusions: Class II malocclusion, as well as other types of malocclusions, is a multifactorial condition that can be caused by genetic, environmental and behavioral factors or combinations of these factors. When the imbalance that favors the advance of the overbite already exists, the key to its treatment is to detect it in time to be able to interrupt the development of this malocclusion by preventive it through appropriate treatments.Universidad de Guayaquil.
