The population consisted of 61 students and 25 teachers. The sample of this research consisted of 26 students and 1 teacher. The method used was the analysis using interview and survey techniques. The results showed that most students did not take part of their free time to develop their reading skills, which reflects that they only read when they are in class and the teacher asks them to do so. In addition, it was evident that students needed help understanding the content of the readings in English class. Therefore, this project presents a magazine with easy-toimplement didactic activities that will allow students to actively participate in class while working on improving their reading skills and increasing their vocabulary. This magazine is a tool for teachers to encourage social interaction among students while eliminating gaps in reading skills and creating a participatory environment. Para analizar las estrategias didácticas para mejorar la competencia lectora en el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje del idioma inglés, los autores realizaron una investigación cualitativa y cuantitativa en la Unidad Educativa Academia Naval Capitán Leonardo Abad Astudillo de La Libertad. La población estuvo conformada por 61 alumnos y 25 docentes. La muestra de esta investigación estuvo conformada por 26 estudiantes y 1 docente. El método utilizado fue el análisis mediante técnicas de entrevista y encuesta. Los resultados mostraron que la mayoría de los estudiantes no aprovechaban parte de su tiempo libre para desarrollar sus habilidades lectoras, lo que refleja que sólo leen cuando están en clase y el profesor se los pide. Además, era evidente que los alumnos necesitaban ayuda para comprender el contenido de las lecturas en clase de inglés. Por ello, este proyecto presenta una revista con actividades didácticas fáciles de implementar que permitirán a los alumnos una participación activa en clases mientras trabajan en la mejora de sus habilidades lectoras e incrementan su vocabulario. Esta revista es una herramienta para que los profesores fomenten la interacción social entre los estudiantes al tiempo que elimina las carencias en las habilidades lectoras y crean un ambiente participativo.Universidad de Guayaquil.
