El método aplicado fue la investigación acción participativa, desde un enfoque cualitativo, diseño narrativo y alcance descriptivo. Para el levantamiento de la información y la aplicación de instrumentos, se contó con la participación de ocho estudiantes pertenecientes a tres sectores de la Isla Trinitaria, incluidas las autoras del presente trabajo de titulación, cuyos instrumentos fueron: guía de observación, cuestionario de autoevaluación, ajustados a una escala de Likert, además, el informe y la ficha de sistematización elaborados semanalmente. En cuanto a los principales hallazgos de la investigación las habilidades de empatía y las de expresión corporal son las que se encuentran desarrolladas y mejor fortalecidas por los estudiantes, mientras que, las habilidades de observación, preparación de los talleres, estructura del discurso, entre otras, aún deben fortalecerse, siendo estas necesarias en la formación académica para lograr un buen desenvolvimiento en los diversos campos de actuación del psicólogo. Uno de los errores identificados fue el extenso contenido del cuestionario de autoevaluación y el lenguaje usado en el mismo, sin embargo, también hubo algunos éxitos como aprender a elaborar y adaptar instrumentos para el levantamiento de la información y afinar las habilidades en la búsqueda de información en bibliotecas virtuales y bases de datos científicasThe main objective of this work was to determine the individual communication skills of the students participating in the project Community intervention in children, adolescents and women in the Trinitary Island sector, with the aim of strengthening them. The applied method was participatory action research, from a qualitative approach, narrative design and descriptive scope. For the gathering of information and the application of instruments, eight students from three sectors of the Trinitary Island participated, including the authors of the present title work, whose instruments were: Observation guide, self-assessment questionnaire, adjusted to a Likert scale, in addition, the report and the systematization sheet prepared weekly. Regarding the main findings of the research, empathy skills and body expression skills are those that are developed and strengthened by students, while observation skills, preparation of workshops, discourse structure, among others. , they must still be strengthened, being necessary in the academic formation to achieve a good development in the different fields of action of the psychologist.
