Además hay una gran cantidad de factores de riesgo maternos y fetales que predisponen al neonato a sufrir de esta enfermedad, uno de los más característicos en bebes prematuros es la ruptura prematura de membranas donde el agente causal asciende por el tracto genitourinario invadiendo las membranas corio-amnióticas causando una infección intrauterina, o en el momento del nacimiento por contacto directo, a este tipo de sepsis se la denomina de inicio temprano, y la sepsis de inicio tardío se caracteriza por el contagio del recién nacido en contacto con su medio ambiente. Dentro de los agentes causales el más característico es el estreptococo del grupo B que se encuentra presente en un alto porcentaje en los hemocultivos.Preterm pregnancies, before 37 weeks of gestation, have a high predisposition to triger neonatal sepsis, causing a high incidence of admissions to the intensive care unit. In addition there are a large number of maternal and fetal risk factors that predispose the newborn to suffer from this disease, one of the most characteristic premature babies is the premature rupture of membranes where the causative agent ascends the genitourinary tract invading the chorioamniotic membranes causing an in trauterine infection, or at the time of birth by direct contact, this type of sepsis is called early onset, and late onset sepsis is characterized by the contagion of the new born in contact with their environment.
