La sistematización partió de la experiencia vivida junto a adultos mayores en la Comunidad de Oramas González del cantón Durán, Guayaquil. El eje de la sistematización nos llevó a indagar en las técnicas e instrumentos utilizados, y en cómo contribuyeron, tanto al cumplimiento del objetivo de evaluación, como a la promoción de cambios positivos en las relaciones entre vecinos. Se recuperó el proceso vivido, en base a lo registrado en un documento de memoria técnica, el cual incluye las técnicas e instrumentos utilizados. La reflexión crítica abordó la importancia de la calidad de relación de familiaridad entre practicantes y comunidad, el uso de estímulos reforzadores para motivar la participación comunitaria, aspectos administrativos institucionales, la resistencia inicial de la comunidad, y la observación como técnica clave. Pese a ciertas limitaciones, las técnicas e instrumentos contribuyeron al cumplimiento del objetivo de evaluación, además de haber tenido cierto impacto en las relaciones interpersonales entre los vecinos. Se enfatiza cómo la potencial contribución de estas técnicas e instrumentos de evaluación, dependerá de los múltiples contextos donde se utilicen, y de la forma y la perspectiva desde la cual se apliquenThe present work of systematization of experiences has the purpose to generate meaningful learning, derived from the techniques and instruments used to identify, prioritize and hierarchize the needs during a community intervention. The systematization focus on the experience lived together with the elders in the Community of Oramas González of the Durán canton, Guayaquil. The axis of the systematization explores the contribution of the techniques and instruments used, regarding the fulfillment of the objective of the needs’ assessment phase, and the promotion of changes in relations between neighbors. The methodology of systematization of experiences was used, from a qualitative and critical perspective. The process experienced was recovered, based on what was recorded in a technical memory document, which includes the techniques and instruments used. The Critical reflection addressed the importance of the quality of the relationship of familiarity between the practitioners and the community; the use of reinforcing stimuli to motivate the community participation; some institutional administrative aspects; the initial resistance of the community; and the observation as a key technique. Despite certain limitations, the techniques and instruments contributed to the fulfillment of the objective of the needs’ assessment phase, besides having had an impact on interpersonal relationships between neighbors.
