Por esta razón, se desarrolló esta investigación con el objetivo de identificar las zonas susceptibles a inundaciones utilizando el algoritmo Random Forest y cuantificar la pérdida anual de suelo por erosión hídrica mediante la Ecuación Universal de Pérdida de Suelo. Se utilizaron las características topográficas, climáticas, edafológicas y la cobertura vegetal para la implementación de cada método. Como resultado se obtuvieron dos mapas en los que se observa la susceptibilidad tanto a inundaciones como a erosión hídrica distribuida en el cantón Babahoyo. Se concluyó que el 19% del cantón tienen muy alta susceptibilidad a inundaciones y el 17,8% del cantón pierde alrededor de 10 a 50 tn/ha/año de suelo por erosión hídrica alta.Heavy rainfall in the Babahoyo canton generates an increase in runoff and river flow, which increases susceptibility to flooding and water erosion. For this reason, this research was developed with the objective of identifying areas susceptible to flooding using the Random Forest algorithm and quantifying the annual soil loss due to water erosion using the Universal Soil Loss Equation. Topographic, climatic, edaphological and vegetation cover characteristics were used for the implementation of each method. As a result, two maps were obtained showing the susceptibility to flooding and water erosion distributed in Babahoyo.
