Se llevo a cabo la presente investigación con el objetivo de conocer si las creencias en relación a el riesgo de contagio y la letalidad de la enfermedad están vinculadas con la ansiedad, depresión y estrés percibido. Para ello se empleó una metodología cuantitativa con diseño correlacional, en conjunto se aplicaron instrumentos para poder establecer si existe o no correlación entre las variables: ansiedad, depresión, estrés derivado de la pandemia, percepción sobre riesgo de contagio y sobre el riesgo de morir a causa del Covid-19. Utilizando criterios de inclusión y exclusión se seleccionaron 40 participantes miembros de la Asociación de Jubilados de Quevedo. Finalmente, se comprobó mediante una serie de correlaciones que las variables ansiedad y depresión no guardan una relación significativa con las creencias sobre el riesgo de contagio y de muerte a causa del Covid-19, salvo la variable estrés que presenta una correlación significativa (p=0.042) y positiva (r= 0.324) con la creencia de contagio. En conclusión, estos resultados indican que existe un aumento del estrés percibido por parte de los adultos mayores debido al cambio de vida generado por la pandemia y el miedo inherente al contagioDue to the recent health emergency that occurred in Ecuador and the world, due to the spread of the SARS - CoV - 2 virus, which produces the COVID - 19 disease, and the prevention measures taken in order to safeguard the lives of people, especially those who are vulnerable, being the elderly population the one with the highest number of deaths, and who could generate psychological repercussions. The present investigation was carried out with the objective of knowing if the beliefs in relation to the risk of contagion and the lethality of the disease are linked to anxiety, depression and perceived stress. For this, a quantitative methodology with a correlational design was used, together instruments were applied to establish whether or not there is a correlation between the variables: anxiety, depression, stress derived from the pandemic, perception of the risk of contagion and of the risk of dying from cause of Covid-19.
