Mediante la aplicación del índice de calidad de agua de la Fundación Nacional Sanitaria de los Estados Unidos, se procesó con 9 parámetros. Los resultados del cálculo indican que el índice y el volumen para la Albarrada la Grande Sancán es de 61,79/ 4756,13 m3, calificándose como REGULAR, en cuanto a la cobertura vegetal en cinco años se muestra un aumento significativo de suelos abiertos y reducción total de vegetación densa. Por lo que se concluye que los sistemas de albarradas evaluadas presentan una calidad de agua media o aceptable el cuál para ser utilizada para consumo humano debe ser tratada y en cuanto a el riego no necesita tratamiento, el aumento de suelos abiertos se debe a la agricultura, para lo cual se debe fortalecer el manejo adecuado de sistema y mejorar el ordenamiento territorial manteniendo los bosques nubosos tropicales; y es suma importancia realizar un estudio interanual en el sistema.The present work included the assessment of the quality of water using the index of water quality established by the National Sanitation Foundation United States in the albarradas's commynity complex Sancán-Jipijapa-Manabí. Through the application of the index of water quality of the National Foundation of Health of the United States, was processed with 9 parameters. The results of the calculation indicate that the index and the volume for the drywall the Large Sancán is 61.79 / 4756.13 m3, qualifying as REGULAR, as for the vegetable coverage in five years there appears a significant increase of open soils and entire reduction of dense vegetation. Therefore, one concludes that the evaluated walls systems present a quality of average or acceptable water which to be used for human consumption must be treated and as for the irrigation he does not need treatment, the increase of open soils owes to the agriculture , for which it is necessary to strengthen the suitable system handling, and to improve the territorial arranging maintaining the tropical cloudy forests; and it is a supreme importance to realize an interannual study in the system.Facultad de Ciencias Naturales.
