During the progress of this research project, a mixed methods approach was employed using empirical instruments to gather detailed information about the problematic situation and how it could be addressed. The research findings confirmed that students present limited language speaking proficiency caused by insufficient didactic guidance, inadequate implementation of speaking activities and low student motivation that do not promote the development of speaking skills at A2.2 level. In this regard, the results of the collected data and current theory suggest the use of the Shadowing technique as an effective alternative to foster the development of students' oral communication. As a result, a didactic guide based on Shadowing activities is proposed to be integrated into current teaching practices, with the aim of addressing speaking difficulties and encouraging students to overcome their obstacles in the development of speaking skills. Este proyecto de investigación tiene como objetivo investigar el problema del bajo nivel de desarrollo de la habilidad de hablar en estudiantes de Primer Año de BGU de la Unidad Educativa Generación Nuevo Milenio y evaluar el uso del Shadowing como técnica para apoyar el desarrollo de la habilidad del hablar incrementando la motivación y el dominio del inglés entre los estudiantes. Durante el transcurso de este proyecto de investigación, se empleó un enfoque del método mixto a través del uso de instrumentos empíricos para recopilar información detallada sobre la situación problemática y como podría manejarse. Los hallazgos de la investigación confirmaron que los estudiantes presentan un dominio del habla del idioma limitado debido a la insuficiente orientación didáctica, la implementación inadecuada de actividades del habla y la baja motivación de los estudiantes que no favorecen el desarrollo de habilidades de habla en el nivel A2.2. Respecto a esto, los resultados de los datos recogidos y la teoría actual sugieren el uso de la técnica del Shadowing como una alternativa eficaz para fomentar el desarrollo de la comunicación oral de los estudiantes. Como resultado, se propone una guía didáctica basada en actividades de Shadowing para integrar en las actuales prácticas de enseñanza, con el objetivo de abordar las dificultades del habla y promover que los estudiantes superen sus obstáculos en el desarrollo de habilidades comunicativas.Universidad de Guayaquil.
