Se realizó un estudio cualitativo de diseño fenomenológico. La muestra fue de tipo no probabilística y estuvo integrada por ocho familiares de edad adulta que asuman el rol de cuidadores o cuidadoras de niños de edad escolar, de 8 a 12 años, con problemas de conducta. Dentro de los métodos, técnicas e instrumentos de recolección de datos se emplearon: la composición, el dibujo, registro anecdótico y ficha sociodemográfica. Entre los principales resultados, se puede destacar que se comprende la representación social del niño con problemas de conducta en los cuidadores y cuidadoras de escolares, desde las vivencias que tienen la muestra en referencia a la conducta problémica del niño, de lo que parten las expresiones afectivas negativas, y a su vez, creencias negativas sobre el niño con problemas de conducta. Para la muestra, estos problemas tienen su causal externa, identificando al sistema familiar como la principal fuente de los problemas de conducta del niño, y que la forma más eficiente de disciplinarlo es mediante la comunicación y las expresiones afectivas positivasThe objective of this research was comprehending the social representations about children with behavioral issues in the vision of caregivers of scholars who belongs to the Children Protection Program “Erradicación del trabajo Infantil” from Nurtac Foundation. It has been made a qualitative study with a phenomenological design. The sample was non probabilistic and composed by eight adult relatives who assume the role of caregivers of school age children, from eight to twelve years old, with behavioral problems. Within the methods, techniques and instruments of data collection it was used: The composition, free drawing, anecdotal record and sociodemographic file. Among the main results, can be highlighted that the social representations about children with behavioral issues expressed by the caregivers is understood, from the experiences that the sample had in reference to the child`s problem behavior. From those experiences, negative affective expressions and negative beliefs about kids with behavioral problems, are derived. For the caregivers, behavioral problems have an external cause, considering the family system as the main cause of behavioral issues of children.
