The forty participants were involved in a process in how help them to improve reading skill using motivational strategies. For this process, the researcher used empirical resources such as survey, observation sheet and the interview in order to discover the relationship. This strong relationship seems to indicate that a focus upon the motivation of students with low reading scores would be beneficial to those individuals. The solution proposed by the researcher is an instructional booklet with strategies that enhancing this skill through current and interesting readings where the students are going to develop activities that foster their learningEste estudio es una exploración de la relación entre la motivación y la habilidad de lectura en el octavo grado de la Escuela Secundaria Héroes de Tarqui. Los cuarenta participantes participaron en un proceso de cómo ayudarles a mejorar la habilidad de lectura usando estrategias de motivación. Para este proceso, el investigador utilizó recursos empíricos como la encuesta, la hoja de observación y la entrevista para descubrir la relación. Esta fuerte relación parece indicar que un enfoque en la motivación de los estudiantes con bajas puntuaciones de lectura sería beneficioso para esos individuos. La solución propuesta por el investigador es un folleto instructivo con estrategias que potencian esta habilidad a través de lecturas actuales e interesantes donde los estudiantes van a desarrollar actividades que fomentan su aprendizajeUniversidad de Guayaquil.
