It was found that the students have reading difficulty, do not give importance to the figures. Furthermore, they also have limited use of activities in the process of inter- learning, besides they use little flashcards, which affects students as they are resources that positively influence lifelong learning. The research was conducted through the literature review, statistical and field analysis. This was investigated through an interview aimed to the English teacher and a survey of students to learn about the difficulties that they have in reading comprehension of English. Then presents a research design that allowed it to define the size of the sample, establish evidence collection instruments. Through this research could provide a solution to the problem, through the design of a booklet based on flashcards activities which will contribute to the strengthening reading comprehension of studentsEn el presente estudio, se investiga cómo influye el uso de tarjetas de vocabulario para fortalecer la comprensión lectora entre los estudiantes de 8 ° año de educación básica general en la Escuela Secundaria Pública "Mercedes Moreno Irigoyen", año escolar 2016 - 2017. Se encontró que los estudiantes tienen dificultad para leer, no le dan importancia a las figuras. Además, también tienen un uso limitado de actividades en el proceso de aprendizaje mutuo, además de utilizar pequeñas tarjetas didácticas, que afectan a los estudiantes ya que son recursos que influyen positivamente en el aprendizaje permanente. La investigación se realizó a través de la revisión de la literatura, estadística y análisis de campo. Esto fue investigado a través de una entrevista dirigida al profesor de inglés y una encuesta de estudiantes para aprender sobre las dificultades que tienen en la comprensión lectora del inglés. Luego presenta un diseño de investigación que le permitió definir el tamaño de la muestra, establecer instrumentos de recolección de evidencia. A través de esta investigación podría proporcionar una solución al problema, mediante el diseño de un folleto basado en actividades de tarjetas didácticas que contribuirá al fortalecimiento de la comprensión lectora de los estudiantes.Universidad de Guayaquil.
