Para lograr caracterizar la resiliencia como recurso de afrontamiento de los pacientes del área de hemodiálisis se escogió el método cualitativo mediante la aplicación de varios instrumentos como la entrevista, la observación y test psicológicos como la escala de resiliencia de Wagnild y Young y la escala de autoevaluación para la depresión de Zung, con los cuales se evaluó la capacidad de resiliencia y las principales estrategias de afrontamiento utilizadas por ellos. Los principales resultados obtenidos mostraron que es común encontrar en estos pacientes una baja capacidad de resiliencia lo cual hace menos llevadero el tratamiento, esto es debido a la perspectiva que tienen sobre la enfermedad, además se evidenció factores importantes que influyen en la capacidad de resiliencia como la edad, relaciones familiares y condición laboral (jubilado o en servicio activo), se presentó también que la búsqueda de apoyo familiar de forma directa o indirecta es un punto determinante en enfermedades catastróficas como esta, ya que pueden mejorar la condición del paciente en el tratamiento.This case analysis was carried out in the Police Hospital No. 2 of the city of Guayaquil in November 2016, is a descriptive study that was based on the resilient capacity of patients in the area of hemodialysis, applied to a sample of 6 male patients of adult age. In order to characterize resilience as a coping resource for patients in the area of hemodialysis, the qualitative method was chosen through the application of several instruments such as interview, observation and psychological tests such as the Wagnild and Young resilience scale and the self-assessment scale. for Zung's depression, with which the resilience capacity and the main coping strategies used by them were evaluated.
