Por ello, el presente estudio tuvo como objetivo, describir la gestión del autocuidado en pacientes con enfermedades crónicas degenerativas. Se empleó la metodología cuantitativa, descriptiva, de campo, con uso de encuesta a una muestra de 370 pacientes con enfermedades crónicas degenerativas. Los resultados expresaron igualdad en los géneros masculino y femenino, con prevalencia de los mayores de 50 años (72%), con ingresos de un sueldo básico (79%), jubilados (38%) y amas de casa (20%); sobresaliendo la hipertensión arterial (57%) y diabetes mellitus tipo II (22%); siendo los factores del entorno que han contribuido a la evolución de estas patologías, la falta de fuerzas y de tiempo de estas personas (61%), para el cuidado de su propia salud, sin corregir los malos hábitos alimenticios (47%), pensando en hacer ejercicios y descansar, pero no lo hace (44%), con poco tiempo para dormir (50%), sin cambiar hábitos arraigados (39%) y con poca precaución ante peligros propios y de la familia (45%); a lo que se sumó el bajo cumplimiento de la gestión de enfermería en consejería especializada (47%), ejecución de charlas o talleres de autocuidado (43%), bajo nivel de entrega de material informativo (44%) y de visitas domiciliarias (28%), logrando bajos grados de adherencia al tratamiento contra su enfermedad crónica (26%). En conclusión, se pudo describir un cumplimiento mediano de la gestión del autocuidado en pacientes con enfermedades crónicas degenerativas.Introduction: Chronic degenerative diseases represent one of the most severe problems facing the world's health systems. Therefore, the objective of this study was to describe self-care management in patients with chronic degenerative diseases. The quantitative, descriptive, field methodology was used, with the use of a survey on a sample of 370 patients with chronic degenerative diseases. The results expressed equality in the male and female genders, with a prevalence of those over 50 years of age (72%), with income from a basic salary (79%), retirees (38%) and housewives (20%); High blood pressure (57%) and diabetes mellitus type II (22%) stand out; The environmental factors that have contributed to the evolution of these pathologies are the lack of strength and time of these people (61%), to take care of their own health, without correcting bad eating habits (47%), thinking in exercising and resting, but not doing so (44%), with little time to sleep (50%), without changing ingrained habits (39%) and with little caution in the face of personal and family dangers (45%); to which was added the low compliance with nursing management in specialized counseling (47%), execution of talks or self-care workshops (43%), low level of delivery of information material (44%) and home visits (28%). %), achieving low levels of adherence to treatment against their chronic disease (26%).
