ANTECEDENTES: La hipertensión arterial (HTA) es uno de los principales factores principales de riesgo desarrollar un Infarto agudo de miocardio (IAM) y dada la alta prevalencia de HTA en todo el mundo, representa un problema evidente de salud pública. OBJETIVO: Determinar la incidencia de HTA en pacientes con IAM del Hospital Abel Gilbert Pontón en el año 2016. METODOLOGIA: Enfoque cuantitativo, diseño no experimental, de corte transversal, observacional y de tipo analítico y correlacional de la prevalencia de HTA en pacientes con IAM. RESULTADOS: Se encontró que de 178 pacientes hospitalizados con diagnóstico de IAM, 103 tuvieron HTA (58%), de los cuales la mayoría tuvo IAM sin elevación del segmento ST (50,6%), el 29,1% tuvo además diabetes, la población más afectada fueron los hombres (68%), de 68 años, raza mestiza (76%). CONCLUSIONES: La incidencia de HTA en pacientes con IAM en 2016 en pacientes del Hospital Abel Gilbert Pontón fue de 58% lo cual nos indica que la HTA es uno de los principales factores de riesgo para la aparición de IAM.TITLE: ARTERIAL HYPERTENSION AS A RISK FACTOR FOR ACUTE MYOCARDIAL INFARCTION. BACKGROUND: High blood pressure (HBP) is one of the main risk factors to develop an acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and, given the high prevalence of hypertension worldwide, represents an obvious public health problem. OBJECTIVE: To determine the incidence of hypertension in patients with AMI at the Abel Gilbert Pontón Hospital in 2016. METHODOLOGY: Quantitative approach, non-experimental, cross-sectional, observational and analytical and correlational design of the prevalence of hypertension in patients with AMI. . RESULTS: It was found that of 178 hospitalized patients with a diagnosis of AMI, 103 had HBP (58%), of which the majority had AMI without ST segment elevation (50.6%), 29.1% had diabetes, the most affected population were men (68%), 68 years old, mestizo race (76%).
