El tratamiento a elegir para la hiperplasia o agrandamiento gingival es la Gingivoplastia, para así eliminar todo tejido fibrótico que rodea a las piezas dentarias y contornear la encía mejorando la estética del paciente. En el presente trabajo se seleccionó un paciente de sexo femenino en buen estado de salud y con agrandamiento gingival, el cual se produjo por la aparatología ortodóntica, por la falta de higiene bucal. Se tuvo como finalidad eliminar el crecimiento excesivo de la encía marginal producto de la acumulación de la placa bacteriana, en el sector anterosuperior para mejorar la salud gingival de la paciente y ayudar a la continuación del tratamiento ortodontico.In many cases in orthodontic treatments gingival hyperplasia due to the accumulation of bacterial plaque can be present in the places of difficult access by the dental brush later this could cause periodontal diseases. The treatment to choose for gingival hyperplasia or enlargement is Gingivoplasty, in order to eliminate all fibrotic tissue surrounding the teeth and contour the gingiva improving the aesthetics of the patient. In the present study, a female patient was selected in good health and with gingival enlargement, which was produced by orthodontic appliance, due to lack of oral hygiene. The aim was to eliminate the excessive growth of the gums resulting from the accumulation of bacterial plaque in the anterosuperior sector to improve the gingival health of the patient and to help the continuation of the orthodontic treatment.Universidad de Guayaquil.
