To reach this objective, it is recommended the implementation of a didactic guide that through a series of activities and techniques that reinforce the study of vocabulary in order to facilitate a better understanding of the text studied. The data collection instruments were applied to the 8th grade students of the Unidad Educativa Replica Aguirre Abad. Through the application of these instruments, strong evidence was found that the subjects of the study do not have a correct reading comprehension and that they are aware that the study of previous vocabulary would be of vital help to improve this skill. Finally, the information provided in this thesis will be useful for anyone who intends to discover how the study of vocabulary facilitates and speeds up students' reading comprehension.Los autores de esta tesis presentan una serie de bases teóricas que confirman que si los estudiantes estudian de manera previa un vocabulario basado en el tema estudiado en clase podrán comprender dicho tema de manera apropiada y eficaz. Para llegar a este objetivo es recomendable la implementación de una guía didáctica que por medio de una serie de actividades y técnicas que refuercen el estudio del vocabulario para poder facilitar la comprensión lectora de un texto estudiado. Los instrumentos de recolección de datos fueron aplicados a los estudiantes de 8vo grado de la Unidad Educativa Replica Aguirre Abad. A través de la aplicación de estos instrumentos se encontró fuerte evidencia de que los sujetos del estudio no realizan una correcta comprensión de la lectura y que están conscientes de que el estudio de vocabulario previo seria de vital ayuda para mejorar esa habilidad. Por último, la información proporcionada en esta tesis será útil para cualquier persona que pretenda descubrir como el estudio del vocabulario facilita y agiliza la comprensión lectora de los estudiantes.Universidad de Guayaquil.
