El tabaco contiene sustancias nocivas y dañinas para la salud en general de las personas causando desordenes malignos y afectando al sistema estomatognático. El propósito de este estudio fue determinar la influencia del tabaco en la enfermedad periodontal en pacientes de la Clínica integral del adulto mayor en la Facultad de Odontología CII periodo 2019-2020. La presente investigación se llevó a cabo con la ayuda de la observación de las historias clínicas de cada paciente tratado periodontalmente, de las cuales se clasifico por edad, género, frecuencia, cantidad, duración y manifestaciones clínicas. Se determinó que el tabaco es unos de los principales factores de riesgo que influyen en la enfermedad periodontal, en una muestra de 199 pacientes donde el género femenino destaco como mayores fumadoras de tabaco con un 55% mientras que el sexo masculino con 45%. También se estableció que el 46% de pacientes atendidos presenta gingivitis y el 54% periodontitisSmoking is considered an addiction that is related to periodontal disease. The purpose of this study is to determine the influence of tobacco on periodontal disease in patients at the Integral Clinic for Elderly people at the Faculty of Dentistry during the 2019-2020 academic period. This investigation is carried out with the help of the observation of the clinical histories of each patient periodontally treated, beings classified by age, gender, frequency, quantity, duration and clinical manifestations. It was determined that tobacco is one of the main risk factors that have influence on periodontal disease.
