This was developed through the detection of the educational problem that revolves around the lack of vocabulary perceived in the students according to the expected level for them, the A2 level. For this reason, a scientific research about that topic was carried out in order to have a better understanding of the situation. The methodology of this project was a quali-quantitative approach that allowed the researchers to collect different types of data. In this research, several instruments were used to collect data, including: an observation checklist, survey and an interview. It was found that students had significant difficulties in increasing their vocabulary due to a lack of resources and limitations in their learning process, such as insufficient time and unawareness of available resources. The solution is to create a mini book of English tales and activities. This proposal was designed to address these issues based on the students’ needs aiming to improve their vocabulary, and in turn, their ability to express themselves more effectively by providing engaging material such as enjoyable reading stories, vocabulary exercises and pronunciation practice. The importance of this study lies in the need of forming students who are able and capable of using a second language, in this case English, for the challenges and difficulties of their future lives, in the academic context as well as professional and personal. Este trabajo de investigación analizó el impacto de los cuentos en el aumento del vocabulario en inglés en estudiantes de primer año de BGU de la Unidad Educativa Fiscal Armada Nacional. Esto se desarrolló a través de la detección del problema educativo sobre la falta de vocabulario percibida en los estudiantes, según el nivel esperado para ellos, el nivel A2. Por esta razón, se realizó una investigación científica sobre el tema para una mejor comprensión. La metodología de este proyecto fue un enfoque cuali-cuantitativo que permitió a los investigadores recopilar diferentes tipos de datos. Se utilizaron varios instrumentos para recopilar datos, incluyendo una lista de verificación de observación, una encuesta y una entrevista. Se encontró que los estudiantes tenían dificultades significativas para aumentar su vocabulario debido a la falta de recursos y limitaciones en su proceso de aprendizaje, como el tiempo insuficiente y el desconocimiento de los recursos disponibles. La solución es crear un mini libro de cuentos en inglés y actividades. Esta propuesta fue diseñada para abordar estos problemas basándose en las necesidades de los estudiantes, con el objetivo de mejorar su vocabulario y, a su vez, su capacidad de expresarse de manera más efectiva, proporcionando material atractivo como cuentos divertidos para leer, ejercicios de vocabulario y práctica de la pronunciación. La importancia de este estudio radica en la necesidad de formar estudiantes capaces de usar un segundo idioma, en este caso el inglés, para enfrentar los desafíos de sus vidas futuras, en el contexto académico, profesional y personal.Universidad de Guayaquil.
