Materiales y métodos: Descriptivo, Retrospectivo, observacional, de corte transversal en pacientes atendidos de enero a diciembre 2021 que tienen criterios de inclusión y exclusión, con una muestra de 160 pacientes. Se obtuvo la información a travésde los datos estadísticos brindados por el hospital. Resultados: de 160 se encontró que 30% tenían de 23-28 años, 82.50% fueron hombres, el 52.5% ocurrió por arma de fuego y un 42.5% presentó neumotórax, el 75% fue manejado mediante abordaje quirúrgico y el 50% presentaron hemorragia como complicación. Conclusiones: En base a nuestro trabajo de investigación concluimos que el trauma de tórax es más frecuente en hombres adultos jóvenes, la etiología más común es por arma de fuego, la lesión más frecuente fue el neumotórax y se realizó manejo quirúrgico en la mayoría de los pacientes, siendo la principal complicación la hemorragia. Palabras Claves: trauma de tórax, herida penetrante, toracostomía.Objective: To analyze the management of chest trauma due to penetrating wound in patients treated at the Martin Icaza Hospital. Materials and methods: Descriptive, retrospective, observational, cross-sectional in patients treated from January to December 2021 who have inclusion and exclusion criteria, with a sample of 160 patients. The information was obtained through the statistical data provided by the hospital. Results: of 160, it was found that 30% were between 23-28 years old, 82.50% were men, 52.5% occurred by firearm and 42.5% presented pneumothorax, 75% was managed by surgery and 50% presented hemorrhage as complication. Conclusions: Based on our research work, we conclude that chest trauma is more frequent in young adult men, the most common etiology is by firearm, the most frequent injury was pneumothorax and surgery was performed in most patients.
