La cavidad oral es una cavidad muy susceptible a los efectos tóxicos directos e indirectos de las quimioterapias y radioterapia. Por tal motivo hay que ser muy riguroso con el control del infante en el proceso en que recibe los diferentes tratamientos antineoplásicos. Este trabajo investigativo busca concientizar la importancia de un buen diagnóstico, de que el personal de salud encargado sepa reconocer las manifestaciones bucales. Por lo que se tiene como objetivo determinar las lesiones que se presentan con mayor frecuencia en pacientes pediátricos oncológicos.ABSTRACT Childhood cancer, as well as other diseases, constitute a health problem for humanity. The Pan American Health Organization establishes that 280,000 children and adolescents under 19 years of age suffer from cancer and approximately 10,000 die from it. The most widely used treatment methods for this disease produce various clinical manifestations at the oral level. For this reason, the main objective of this research work is to determine the most frequent oral manifestations in pediatric cancer patients. To achieve the purpose of the research, a systematic, documentary, and analytical study was carried out based on the review of the scientific literature available in reference textbooks and academic search engines. It is concluded that the most frequent oral lesions are associated with the chemotherapy-type cancer treatment method and these are: xerostomia, mucositis, lockjaw, gingivitis, osteoradionecrosis, dysgeusia, dysphagia, viral and bacterial infections.
