El tercer molar superior queda retenido en una proporción menor que los terceros molares inferiores. El tercer molar superior presenta un accidente de erupción, que le es propio. Ocurre por lo general en aquellos molares que erupcionan hacia el lado del carrillo, es decir que presentan bucoversión. Este accidente está caracterizado por los siguientes signos clínicos: al hacer su erupción, el molar coloca su cara triturante en contacto con la mucosa del carrillo que termina ulcerándose por traumatismo constante, se producen dolores intensos, los tejidos blandos vecinos se inflaman. El presente trabajo de investigación pretende mostrar el tratamiento antiinflamatorio postoperatorio del tercer molar superior retenido mediante la administración antiinflamatorios, antibióticos y analgésicos más adecuados para reparar los daños que surjan con motivo del acto quirúrgico. El tratamiento postoperatorio es la fase más importante, tanto es así, que la vigilancia, cuidado y tratamiento del paciente una vez terminada la operación puede modificar y aun mejorar los inconvenientes surgidos en el curso de la intervención quirúrgica. Por consiguiente el propósito de este trabajo, es conocer los diferentes tratamientos anti inflamatorios, posibles complicaciones durante y después de la cirugía, además del todo el cuidado que debe tener el paciente, que ayuden en la recuperación satisfactoria de nuestros pacientes para devolverles una mejor calidad de vida.
