El objetivo principal fue explorar la percepción del adulto mayor respecto a los beneficios de las actividades recreativas en las que participaban, para lograrlo se consideró una metodología cualitativa de tipo exploratoria que permitió conocer situaciones dadas dentro de la Institución de las cuales los investigadores no tenían conocimiento, y descriptiva porque se analizó la información directa proporcionada por los adultos mayores institucionalizados, a través de la entrevista, observación, análisis documental, test de autoestima para adultos de Coopersmith y la escala de resiliencia de Wagnild y Young, priorizando la intervención lúdica y participativa. Se exploró la percepción del adulto mayor respecto a los beneficios de las actividades recreativas, dando como resultado que los adultos mayores tenían una autovaloración positiva hacia la vida, capacidad para superar los obstáculos, emociones frecuentes de alegría, sentimientos de amor y gratitud hacia el Hogar y satisfacción por todos los beneficios físicos y psicológicos que recibieron al ser parte de las actividades que el Hogar les ofrecía, favoreciendo su proceso de adaptación a la institucionalización, a su autoaceptación, a sus relaciones con otros, autonomía, dominio y capacidad para interactuar en forma armoniosa con su entorno y lograr un envejecimiento exitosoThe following case analysis took place in the "Hogar Corazón de Jesús" of the City of Guayaquil, a comprehensive care center for the elderly, data collection occurred in the first semester of the current year and the participants were 10 senior citizens that were part of the recreational activities. The main objective was to explore the perception of the older adult regarding the benefits of the recreational activities in which they participated, in order to achieve it, a qualitative methodology of exploratory type was considered that allowed to know situations given within the Institution of which the researchers were not aware , and descriptive because the direct information provided by the institutionalized older adults was analyzed, through the interview, observation, documentary analysis, self-esteem test for adults of Coopersmith and the scale of resilience of Wagnild and Young, prioritizing the playful and participative intervention .
