Aún no se conoce con exactitud la etiología de la neuralgia del Trigémino. Muchos pacientes desarrollan tipos de dolores neurálgicos que van desde dolor bucal hasta patología dental. Esto a su vez se debe a que tiene una relación con varios factores, siendo una de estas la retención de los terceros molares que presentan problemas dolorosos. El propósito de este estudio es la presentación de un caso clínico: pieza 38 semiretenida, Distoangular, II-B de acuerdo con la clasificación de Pell Gregory, radiográficamente: tiene relación de compresión al nervio Dentario Inferior, sintomatología: dolor constante intenso acompañado de cefaleas, y edema hemifacial izquierdo. Metodológicamente este trabajo es cualitativo de nivel descriptivo, con un diseño no experimental. Resultados: En la evaluación postoperatoria se realiza retiros de punto, presenta ausencia de la sintomatología Conclusiones: la anatomía topográfica de la pieza dentaria, y el tipo de retención están relacionados a neuralgias del nervio Trigémino. Considerando que estas afectaciones pueden ser transitorias o permanentes, un 0,5% de los casos las raíces de los terceros molares al estar en contacto con el nervio Dentario Inferior se origina una excitabilidad o sensibilidad la cual envía impulsos nerviosos que llevan a la irritación del nervio Trigémino, provocando alteraciones como: cefaleas, dolores musculares en la parte posterior del cuello y tumefacción hemifacialThe neuralgia of Trigémino has become a subject not only controversial but important, entering in to debate by many professionals regarding its Semiology.
