En este estudio se utilizó una metodología de diseño documental con un enfoque mixto y de tipo de estudio descriptivo. El proceso de recolección de datos fue mediante cuatro entrevistas realizadas a diferentes expertos en sus respectivos campos, los cuales fueron: un representante de la alcaldía de Playas, un operador turístico, un arquitecto y un funcionario de DP World. Se concluyó que, a partir de la apertura del puerto en el año 2019, el comercio en general en todo el Cantón ha ido mejorando ya sea por la construcción de nuevas obras, convenios con distintas compañías, crecimiento de turismo y generación de empleo en los diferentes sectores antes mencionados.This research was developed with the objective of analyzing the challenges and opportunities that the Deep Water Port of Posorja presents for the economic development of the General Villamil Playas Canton, which promotes commercial, tourist and real estate growth in the area. In this study, a documentary design methodology was used with a mixed approach and a descriptive study type. The data collection process was through four interviews carried out with different experts in their respective fields, which were a representative of the Playas mayor's office, a tour operator, an architect and an official from DP World.
