| Samenvatting: | This article is a result of the R+D+i-IC-ULVR-19-70 Project, The Professionalization of the Basic Education Teacher, under the funding of the Universidad Laica VICENTE ROCAFUERTE of Guayaquil, which raised the possibility of creating in the Faculty of Education, Basic General Education career. In this sense, the research project was an act of commitment to the guidelines that inspire the objectives and values of the ULVR in the pertinent and innovative relationship with society, based on values of humanism, excellence, ethics and commitment. In the previous evaluation of the pre-professional practices and the agreements with the educational units, the need to train a Basic General Education teacher who had strengths in areas of knowledge of language, mathematics and ICT was detected, and at the same time capable of being flexible and adapt to social and curricular changes in Ecuador. The objective of this research was to determine the educational needs in Basic General Education and the required teacher profile. The research had a mixed approach: quantitative and qualitative, in order to have the ideal data for the curricular development of the new basic education career. The most important conclusion of this work was to show the real demand in the school environment for future teachers of basic education; and more precisely identify the competencies required by the new teacher of the 21st century, willing to develop and innovate with professional ethics under an inclusive and avant-garde model. |
