The nature of cross-border transactions leaves much potential for blockchain technology to facilitate trade, areas are explored where blockchain technology could be useful such as facilitating trade finance, improving customs procedures and tracing the provenance of goods. The situation described in the previous sections indicates that the public and private sectors are carrying out a variety of use cases in these areas. Financial institutions are experimenting with blockchain to increase access and lower the costs of commercial financing. The shipping industry is working with those along supply chains, as well as with customs officials to see how a distributed digital ledger can facilitate the transparent movement of goods across borders and seas………… |
