| Gaia: | The lack of integral and family development is the main weakness in the children's homes, which negatively affects the capacity of these institutions to carry out their mission to protect in situations of vulnerability. Several problems were recognized, such as overreach by the institutions, lack of resources, and lack of fully trained professionals. These were identified through interviews with five child and family experts, including judges and lawyers specializing in the field, who all had in common that foster homes need programs to be adapted in key areas such as education, health, and emotional stability. This does not allow for the comprehensive development of the protected minors, there is a violation of constitutional rights, and the regulations are not in place, which results in legal gaps and a lack of protection of children's rights. The research had a qualitative approach to gain insight into the different perspectives and experiences of experts, who mentioned that, despite existing progress, there is still much room for improvement. From this approach, the recommendations include the visualization of creating more specific regulations that explain the regulation of foster homes, implementing programs that strengthen family ties, and increasing material and human resources, this highlighted the influence of good training of the staff involved in this process, intending to improve the environment in which the children find themselves. |
