| Shrnutí: | The present thesis project addresses the problem of the lack of multisensory centers focused on older adults in the General Antonio Elizalde Canton (Bucay), Ecuador. Aging entails a decline in physical and sensory abilities, increasing vulnerability and reducing autonomy in this population. Society tends to overlook the needs of older adults, depriving them of environments that promote their well-being and development. The absence of suitable multisensory centers for older adults is due to a lack of awareness among architects and designers, resulting in environments that are neither safe nor accessible for this demographic. The lack of adaptability of architectural designs in the General Antonio Elizalde Canton exacerbates this situation, affecting quality of life and increasing the risk of social isolation. To address this issue, the project proposes designing a Multisensory Center for older adults in the Bucay Canton. The general objective is to develop a center that enhances the quality of life of residents by incorporating multisensory techniques. Specific objectives include recognizing the needs of older adults, creating stimulating spaces through multisensory activities, implementing materials focused on comprehensive sensory stimulation, and presenting designs for the construction of the center. |
