Summary:The thesis examined the sustainable impact on the development of cantons in the eastern area of the province of Guayas, focusing on the exploitation and use of local stone materials for the manufacture of concrete. The main findings revealed that the extraction of these materials has generated economic benefits, such as job creation and business stimulation, although it has also posed environmental challenges, including landscape degradation. The importance of community participation in decision-making is highlighted and recommendations are proposed, such as continued research for more sustainable practices, effective regulations, environmental education programs and economic diversification to ensure balanced and sustainable development in the region.
