Shrnutí:The present research project entered the study of the erosive phenomenon that affects the Coca River and the adequate protection works for the Coca Sinclair elbow hydroelectric plant located in this same river. Regressive erosion as the phenomenon is known has had a relatively rapid evolution within evidenced geological times. This has generated that there are damages for the Ecuadorian State of very high capital amounts, in addition, risks and social damages as consequences of the problem. In this sense, the protection works sought to be the response based on the theoretical framework and on the proposal that adjusted the works to the current environmental conditions of the area under study. For this, a non -experimental design was carried out whose qualitative approach was largely determined by the data collection technique that was the interview with experts in the scientific axes - study technicians. As part of the results section, the establishment of baselines that defined the diagnosis of the current situation was obtained and make up the starting point of any further study for both protection works design recommendations and for the consideration of the characteristics and principles more relevant about the aforementioned topic.
