Gaia:The present investigation has been carried out with the aim of making known the inconveniences suffered by forensic medical professionals and criminalistics personnel when performing the legal autopsy procedure on victims who arrive at the Municipal Autopsy Room in the city of Milagro, making known the background to this procedure, the concepts used, its legal bases on how important it is to perform it on victims of violent deaths and how important it is for their relatives, as it is the only way to obtain evidence that serves to carry out a judicial process with optimal guarantees. The methodology used in this research is based on a descriptive, cross-sectional study that allowed for the collection of specific data for the analysis and interpretation of each question asked of the forensic professionals. The results obtained in the interviews determined that the Municipal Autopsy Room in the city of Milagro has a reduced infrastructure for the number of bodies that arrive, because procedures are not only performed on victims who die in the city, but also in neighbouring cantons such as Naranjito, Yaguachi, El Triunfo, Bucay, Simón Bolívar, Naranjito, Yaguachi, El Triunfo, Bucay, Simón Bolívar, Naranjito, Yaguachi, El Triunfo and Bucay, Simón Bolívar, Naranjal, Jújan and Babahoyo, due to the fact that this is the only autopsy room closest to the area. For this reason, the interviewees agree that this space should be expanded, equipment should be installed, tools should be used and analysis laboratories should be set up, so that this process can be carried out in a shorter period of time.
