| Yhteenveto: | The titling project addresses the problem of urban mobility on San Cristóbal Island, Galapagos, Ecuador, focusing on a section of intersection of two important road infrastructures. It seeks to improve traffic congestion and the lack of adequate infrastructure for sustainable modes of transport. The general situation in Ecuador shows deterioration and deficiencies on urban roads, affecting drivers, pedestrians and residents. The objective is to propose improvements in road infrastructure through paving and signage, with the goal of ensuring more efficient, safe and sustainable mobility. The study uses a mixed research approach, combining qualitative and quantitative techniques, with a descriptive scope to present known characteristics of the phenomenon studied. Purposive sampling is used to select participants. The results of the study provide a detailed analysis of road infrastructure and traffic conditions, highlighting the need for urgent corrective measures. The days and times of greatest traffic congestion are identified, open responses from respondents are analyzed, and parameters such as mobility coefficient and service level are calculated to evaluate traffic efficiency and quality. The proposal includes the choice of rigid pavement as the best option given the conditions and type of traffic in the area. Detailed recommendations are offered for design, material selection, site preparation, quality control during construction, installation of contraction and expansion joints, drainage, regular maintenance, and timely pavement rehabilitation, with the goal of improving the durability and safety of road infrastructure. |
