Ամփոփում: | The objectives of this research project were to investigate the incidence of racism in the academic performance of students at "Isabel de Godin" School and to identify the most frequent manifestations of racism and their impact on students' academic performance. The sample consisted on forty-five students; seventeen of them were men and twenty-eight were women. The method inductive-deductive, transversal and descriptive were used, as technique it was used a survey that consisted on ten questions. During the pre-professional practices at "Isabel de Godin" School, this problem was directly seen and put in evidence the pain racism causes, specifically in the Tenth Year of Basic General Education, class "A", where 50% of Students belong to indigenous communities near the study center, while, of course, the other 50% are mestizos. It is concluded that racism has an important influence on the academic development of students coming from indigenous communities, which discourages them, without considering that both, the teacher and the student should, have an open mind, a vision of the future and a mission that understands that studying is a preparation for life. No one has to be subjected to racism or any other form of discrimination due to his/her origin, ethnicity or culture. However, racism has been translated into oppression showed as physical and psychological violence and verbal intimidation. |
