| Summary: | Context: Hypertensive disorders are considered the main cause of maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality worldwide. In Ecuador, preeclampsia and eclampsia are reported as the main cause of maternal death for more than a decade. A descriptive study was carried out in 257 adolescent pregnant women who were attended in the gynecology clinic of the Provincial General Teaching Hospital of Riobamba in the period between May and December 2017. The average age was 16.32 ± 2.68. years, with predominance of pregnant women between 17 and 19 years of age (44.35%). Indigenous patients (63.42%), nulliparous (83,27%) and with basic education level predominated. There was an incidence of preeclampsia of 19.84% and 3.11% of eclampsia. High number of neurological symptoms with predominance for headache and tinnitus in some very small way; patients with inadequate or no obstetric follow-up. A high percent of presentation of fetal complications. Fetal distress, delayed intrauterine growth and prematurity were those with the greatest fetal involvement. The consumption of acetyl salicylic acid and calcium by the pregnant teenager for prevention of preeclampsia and eclampsia is decreased |
